Taskforce Report Update

Over the past few months, 3Ci has been actively collaborating with our Net Zero Investment Taskforce, chaired by Catherine McGuinness CBE. The Taskforce was set up to examine the Outline Business Case which 3Ci produced for its concept of Net Zero Neighbourhoods, and specifically an innovative housing retrofit financing model within that.

Engaging key stakeholders in banking, insurance, pensions, venture, ESG, and social investment, our team gathered insights to address challenges in the UK's Net Zero investment pathway. We're now finalizing a report to be released in December, offering recommendations on integrating local authorities with investors and exploring new investment models. Taskforce members welcomed 3Ci's model and highlighted the importance of working through the discussed challenges in practice, rather than only on paper, underlining the need for demonstrators.

Sutton's Green Enterprise Partnership: Innovative SME Decarbonization

GHG Protocol Survey

GHG Protocol provides global standardized frameworks for measuring and managing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Collaborating with entities like WRI and WBCSD for two decades, they assist cities in setting climate mitigation goals, tracking progress, and evaluating the impact of policies.

Currently, GHG Protocol is seeking stakeholder input to enhance the Global Protocol for Community-scale Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories (GPC). If your local authority has GHG measurement experience, participate in their survey by December 31 to contribute to the improvement of GHG inventories.

Making Net Zero Neighbourhoods work in London: A LEDNet webinar

The London Environment Directors’ Network (LEDNet) is hosting a 3Ci webinar on 6 December, on how London’s diverse boroughs are engaging with and seeking to operationalise the net zero neighbourhood approach.

Leading 3Ci thinkers, Catherine McGuinness and Alex Massie, will delve into the key features, potential, and viability of this model. They will be joined by London speakers who will share local case studies and discuss pan-London collaborations aimed at scaling this innovative approach.

This event is aimed at local authority finance, climate, and environment directors, and will take place on Wednesday 6 December, 4-5pm.

Meet Cllr Kieron Williams, joining the Advisory Board of 3Ci

We are delighted to welcome Cllr Kieron Williams to the 3Ci advisory board.

Cllr Williams is the Leader of Southwark Council and the London Councils Executive Member for Transport and Environment and Climate Change; leading the cross-party work of London’s 32 boroughs plus the City of London to deliver a greener, zero carbon and better connected capital. He is also Chair of Central London Forward, heading up the combined efforts of the twelve inner London boroughs to deliver inclusive and sustainable growth. He is Co-Chair of the South East London Integrated Care Partnership, bringing partners together to improve health and care and reduce health inequalities across SE London.
