Launch of the 3Ci Net Zero Investment Taskforce Findings Report

In 2023, 3Ci launched the 3Ci Net Zero Investment Taskforce, chaired by Catherine McGuinness CBE, to explore financing models for retrofitting Net Zero Neighbourhoods.

Comprising stakeholders from banking, insurance, pensions, venture capital, and impact investment sectors, the Taskforce supports local authorities in securing long-term finance for Net Zero initiatives. Findings were presented in the 'From Challenge to Opportunity: Unlocking a UK-wide Net Zero Investment Dividend' report, launched at a Parliamentary Roundtable and Reception on March 19. Esteemed figures, including Lord Martin Callanan, Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP, and Rt Hon Alex Sobel MP, shared their perspectives on scaling up Net Zero investments.

Somers Town visit

Last month's visit to Somers Town, Camden, wasn't just a tour of streets and buildings; it was a voyage into community-driven sustainability. Organised as part of 3Ci's corporate membership scheme, we explored Camden’s Somers Town district, one of the GLA’s 'Future Neighbourhoods 2030' projects, witnessing ongoing projects and ambitious plans for future retrofitting and decarbonisation. What struck us most was the council's commitment to engaging the community from start to finish, ensuring genuine buy-in every step of the way.

CPC’s inaugural Summit!

3Ci focused on "Financing the Net Zero 2030 Challenge". Key takeouts from across the sessions included:

• Exploring the need to share risks and rewards between the public and private sectors in financing the transition to Net Zero.

• Emphasising the urgency of activating Net Zero Neighbourhood demonstrator projects as a priority.
• Highlighting the critical role of investment grade projects in attracting investment. And understanding the necessary support to elevate these projects to investment grade is key to unlocking further investment opportunities.

What excites us the most is the consistency in messaging that is coming from all sectors, highlighting the same thoughts and urgency.
